+Miss World Vietnam to host Mrs World final with Alan Thicke

VietNamNet Bridge – The organising board of the Mr. World 2009 pageant on November 9 invited Miss World Vietnam 2007 Ngo Phuong Lan to host the final night on November 22 in Vung Tau city.

Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Provincial Department of Foreign Affairs, a member of the organisng board, confirmed it sent the invitation to Phuong Lan. If she agrees, Lan will work in Vung Tau city from November 15-23.

Two weeks ago, she met with Mrs. World chairman David Z. Marmel. Marmel praised Lan’s fluent English and good communication skills.

The beauty queen is yet to give her answer yet but, if she agrees, then she will host the final night of Mrs World 2009 with Alan Thicke.

The beauty pageant opened on November 7 in Vung Tau City with the participation of nearly 70 contestants. Vietnam’s representatives are Hoang Thi Yen and Nguyen Thi Thu Ha.

At first I thought ok so she's the daughter of the ambassador of course the committee will pick her due to her strong familly backbone for the political reason. However, the more I look at this girl and read about her the more I realize she is the only one who truly deserves her crown. She is simply elegant, beautiful, educated (she can speak English, French, Spanish, and Vietnamese), and to me she is pretty inside out. She doesn't run around claimming I'm a medical student or majoring in pharmacy or advertise herself as an active person in helping the poor folks. Ngo Phuong Lan turned down the 2008 Miss World competition twice to continue her education, now to me that's pretty down to earth kind of girl. Yes she had fun at her Miss VN World competition, now it's time to be back at the reality of her future. I bet you any other girl would skip school and jump right at the oppoturnity to be at the Miss World competition. This girl is one of a rare kind I haven't seen in a while. She doesn't need to put on tons of makeup, or dark mascara yet she shines like a diamond.

In the afternoon of 16th November, Miss World Vietnamese Ngo Phuong Lan, in company with her parents – Mr. and Mrs. Ngo Quang Xuan Ambassador, visited SARA Group and talk familiarly with Chairman Tran Khac Hung and staffs at SARA Ecom’s office. On this occasion, SARA Ecom – a member of SARA Group, together with Miss Ngo Phuong Lan, associate Thanh Nien paper to transfer 2,000 USD to support the Middle Area people who are affected by the flood.
With charming smile, graceful beauty, Miss confides about her life after achieving Miss title, present work and intentions in the future.

Although Miss is very busy with learning, she always makes her effort to carry out many charitable programs in order to help to miserable Vietnamese people.
After the coronation, Miss visited and presented to the families of martyrs, dioxin victims, defected people in Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa province); victims of the recent flood in Nghe An and Ha Tinh province; the children who are dioxin victims, orphans in Ha Noi etc.; raise the charitable Funds in Swiss.

On 11th November, Miss returned to Vietnam to take part in Jewellery Queen and music program for purpose of raising charitable fund at Huu Nghi cultural palace as honour guest. She was also honoured to be representative of SARA Ecom- SARA Group to transfer support money to the Middle Area people who are affected the recent flood.
In the conversation, Chairman Tran Khac Hung suggest to collaborate with Miss after accomplishing her course in Swiss.
At present, she hasn’t decided yet, but for her that is attractive suggest, Miss said.

+Ngo Phuong Lan wins Miss Vietnam Global 2007

VietNamNet Bridge - It seemed not to be a surprise for those who watched all programmes of Miss Vietnam Global that Ngo Phuong Lan, 20, a student studying in Switzerland, won the contest on September 2.

The lady also made the best response to the board’s question, which is “why Miss Vietnam’s activities is always attached to humanitarian issue?”. She said, “The true, the good and the beautiful are always the dignity and aspiration that all people wish to reach. The beautiful is attached to a kind and sincere heart. Humanitarian activities are those that honor the beautiful.”

Arriving in the US at the age of 1, and now studying diplomacy in Switzerland, Lan, No. 888, won the love of many people with her pure beauty and friendliness.

Moreover, her mother said that her parents consider it an important issue to teach Lan the traditions and characters of the Vietnamese. Although they live abroad, they speak Vietnamese and eat Vietnamese food.

She also said that her daughter would continue her study and then come back to Vietnam to work.

The answer that also moved everyone was Teresa Sam’s. She said that she wanted to answer the question in Vietnamese but she had to speak English and burst into tears. She was the second best in the beauty contest, followed by Dang Minh Thu, who was moved with the memory of her grandmother’s vegetable soup.

The beauty contest also had other awards for Miss Sea, Miss Tourism as well as Miss Photography.

The contest was held in Vinpearl resort. The programme was live, beginning in the traditional atmosphere with water puppets and Vietnamese house and 37 beautiful ladies. They participated in three performance of swimming suits, gala dress and ao dai.
